I don't claim to be an expert fisherman ... just a guy who loves to fish and has been blessed for his efforts. I learned a long time ago that in fishing, and in much of life, you get out of it what you put into it. I work hard when fishing, I study a lot, and always try to learn something on every outing. I hope you can use the information I post on this blog to learn something as well. Thanks for following along!

Johnny's first Cat

Another Giant

Took another one of our students out yesterday afternoon for a few hours. His first cat ... 32" and 15.5 lbs. I have just as much fun watching these kids catch monster channel cats as I do catching them myself! Cut bait again ... bluegill!

More Monsters!

The 2012 season is off to an amazing start! Took my buddy Bob fishing for cats yesterday. His first ever channel cat qualified for InFisherman's Master Angler award ... 30" and 13 lbs. I followed that with a Master Angler bluegill at 11".

Off to a good start ...

Had to work much of the day yesterday for Wisconsin's opener. But when I did get out ... Hit the payload! Decided to stay close to home at just chase some cats again with my wife. Fished about 3 hours and caught 7, including 5 over 12 lbs and my personal best ... a 34" and 21lb beast channel cat! All but one came on cut bait from a white bass I caught 2 minutes after we started.

No Cats but No Cares

Fished cats yesterday and got everything but the whiskered critters! We got bass, gills, white bass, yellow bass, crappies and sheepshead. Not a cat to be found ... but I'm stocked up on cut bait!

Chasing Cats

More Kitty Action

I'm REALLY beginning to enjoy catfishing! It's simple and relaxing ... until you get one on. Then it's nothing short of chaos in a small boat with lots of lines out!

The water temp in my favorite spot went down 13 degrees from last week ... and the bite, for the most part, went with it. We fished 8 hours and got 2 cats and a big gill. The fish we got made it all worthwhile!

From Saturday ...

Caught what's left of the brown trout bite in Milwaukee. Ended up with 19 ... caught 10 jigging Gulp and 9 trolling Flicker Shad. All cookie cutters!
