Fished with Collin and Joe again. Got there at 6:15. Caught 2 small Steelies in "the corner" at about 7:00 am and a Brown in the same spot about 8:30. Lost a nice fish on spawn. Caught the other 3 on spawn as well. Water was cloudy, wind was calm, temps in mid 50's, calm.
I don't claim to be an expert fisherman ... just a guy who loves to fish and has been blessed for his efforts. I learned a long time ago that in fishing, and in much of life, you get out of it what you put into it. I work hard when fishing, I study a lot, and always try to learn something on every outing. I hope you can use the information I post on this blog to learn something as well. Thanks for following along!

Fished the marina and river with Joe and Collin. I went 6 for 8 with a Steelhead, Chinook, Coho, and 3 Browns. Browns were 31" and 13#'s, 29" and 11#'s, and 28" and 10#'s. The smallest was a hen, the others were bucks. Weather was 57 and calm ... overcast. Got the three browns in the river and the rest at the corner. Lost a big steelie and a monster Chinook at the corner. Browns hit green and gold dimpeled Cleos and a the rest hit spawn / skien.

RAC Harbor - October 13, 2009
Fished with Collin today. Andy got his on a J-13 in silver and mine was on skien. The King inhaled the J-13 to the point that there was only an inch or so of it still showing. Slien bite was slow. We missed 5-6 fish. Weather was cold and windy ... high of 42, N wind at 15 mph.

Lake Waubesa - September 22, 2009
Got out tonight for a few hours. Caught a nice 18" on a jig, but the action was very slow. We got over 3" of rain today. Had a monster follow a DT-1 after dark. It saw me and spooked as the bait approached me. BIG fish!

September 4, 2009 - Lake Waubesa
Fished about 3 hours tonight after work. Only caught 3 bass but the 21" in the pic made it worthwhile. Made 5 casts with a banjo under one particular dock that has produced before and never had a tick. Changed to a swim jig with a Sabertube tail and had a hit in the first cast in the same spot. I didn't get the hook in so I threw it right back in there and the fish just exploded on it. He got rapped around 2 different posts but I was able to pull him.

Gave Andy another fishing lesson this morning. Ended up with about 12, including this 21" caught on a jig and chigger craw under a dock. Cool, fairly strong wind out of the NW.

August 6, 2009 - Lake Waubesa
Back to Waubesa for about 4 hours this morning (8 to noon). Wind calm ... temps about 75. A lot of green on top of the water. Fishing was slower, but still caught about 10, all on banjo minnows. Biggest was a fat 19"er. All fish were deep under docks and near a post. The 19" grabbed it and ran but I didn't get a hook in. Two casts later he grabbed it again and the circle hook went into the meat of the mouth.

August 5, 2009 - Lake Waubesa
Tried something new today ... Worms were slow, the lake was calm, and the water was fairly clean. After two hours of slow action I tied on a banjo minnow. I ended up with about 15 bass, including two at 16", one each at 17", 18", and 21". All were deep under docks and pontoons. Most of the larger fish sucked the bait in, the 18" came out of the water to get it! Hot temps, no wind. One day before the full moon.

August 1, 2009 - Lake Waubesa
Finally an end to the three week dry spell! Caught about a dozen this morning ... the biggest being just over 20" and 4.5 lbs. Wackey rigged sinking minnow under a dock. I believe I had this fish hit 3 times this morning before I finally got a hook in him. I tried a circle hook the third time around ... it worked wonderfully! It's tough to resist setting the hook like normal ... but with a little practice it seems to really be the ticket!
