I don't claim to be an expert fisherman ... just a guy who loves to fish and has been blessed for his efforts. I learned a long time ago that in fishing, and in much of life, you get out of it what you put into it. I work hard when fishing, I study a lot, and always try to learn something on every outing. I hope you can use the information I post on this blog to learn something as well. Thanks for following along!

Giant King Salmon Caught Off Port Washington!

There have been a lot of reports of big Kings already this fall. This 34 lb beast was caught by Capt. Nolan Koepp this past weekend. Check out his website at Top Gun Charter Service. Some awesome pics and decent rates!

One of those days!

Yesterday was one of those days that makes you want to focus on yard work for a while. fished 3 hours ... fought boats, jet skis, and a pair of guys in a Nitro that thought they were impressive ... and got 3 smaller fish.

The good news is ... I didn't have many froggies eaten. :)

I'll probably give them a rest until Thursday night.

Re-Frogged

Got out this morning at 6:00. It was an incredibly beautiful morning. The calm winds and clear skies set things up wonderfully for … frog fishing. I had 3 bass in before i finished the first dock. The bite was strong until about 7:00 … when I ran out of frogs. Jigged for a while but conditions we’re not ideal for jigging. Gave up at 10:00 and headed home to bottle my latest homebrew.

Mailman arrived at 11:00 and so did 56 more frogs! Guess what I’m doing tonight?

Got a Biggin' Tonight

Fished a shoreline tonight I haven't been on yet this year. Got about 15, including this 22". Pics suck, but she was kind of beat up anyways. Hopefully she'll be prettier when I catch her and she's 24" :)

Bass Crack!

Out Last Night Again ...

Dock fishing for Bass has been red HOT! I was out for 3 hours again last night. I have never had that many BIG fish on in one evening. Unfortunately ... I've never lost that many big fish in one evening either. I lost three different 5+ lb fish in one stretch of 6 docks ... all the same way. Pull them out of the posts and they bury themselves in the grass. Frustrating!

Jiggin up Piggies

Went out this afternoon with Troy and had a blast jiggin up Big Mouths. It took Troy a while to get the hang of it but eventually he got it down!

Nothing on frogs today ... everything on jigs and Chigger Craws.

Got a unique double ... I was taking a picture of him with a nice one when I felt its twin grab my jig. Dropped the camera and cranked her in to get the pic of Troy with both of them.

New Toy Added Yesterday

I finally picked up the chest mount harness for my new GoPro camera yesterday. That means ... pretty soon you'll be right under the docks with me ... arm wresting a biggin'! I hope to give it a go this weekend!

Poor Frogs!

Spent a few hours in the docks again today. I almost feel bad for those poor frogs! Those bass just don't like them!

Salmon Fishing is Right Around the Corner!

I went out last weekend and stocked up on fire tiger J-13's, floats, Moonshine Spoons, and terminal tackle. My buddy Collin tells me caught a King on Sunday that was starting to darken up. Come on, west wind!!!!!!!!!

New Blog is Up and Running

My new blog is now up and running on the Wisconsin Outdoor Fun website. Check out my first post as it describes the technique I've been using under docks lately. It really is a killer technique!

New Blogging Opportunity Arises!

I have just agreed to begin blogging for Wisconsin Outdoor Fun. I'll be providing weekly reports, tips, etc. that focus on shore fishing and wading. Look for "From the Shoreline" under the blog tab. It should be up fairly soon. I hope to have the first post up this weekend.

Sorry about the lack of activity ...

I haven't been in the water for a while now. Heat, humidity, waders, and old guys don't got together! I'm hoping to get out a while yet this week (maybe even tonight).

I've been busy writing my next article for Fishing Headquarters Magazine. Collin Venn and I are co-authoring a piece on shore fishing for fall salmon and trout. The e-mag should be out around September 1.
