I don't claim to be an expert fisherman ... just a guy who loves to fish and has been blessed for his efforts. I learned a long time ago that in fishing, and in much of life, you get out of it what you put into it. I work hard when fishing, I study a lot, and always try to learn something on every outing. I hope you can use the information I post on this blog to learn something as well. Thanks for following along!

Off to a good start ...
Had to work much of the day yesterday for Wisconsin's opener. But when I did get out ... Hit the payload! Decided to stay close to home at just chase some cats again with my wife. Fished about 3 hours and caught 7, including 5 over 12 lbs and my personal best ... a 34" and 21lb beast channel cat! All but one came on cut bait from a white bass I caught 2 minutes after we started.

Nice fish! I've never done a whole lot of catfish-fishing during the day on mendota, but pheasant branch creek area, spring harbor and marshall park areas can all be good for some big cats in the evening/night.
ReplyDelete21lbs is a HUGE cat! I think my PB for mendota is right about 15lbs.
gnarly looking cat Todd! congrats
