I don't claim to be an expert fisherman ... just a guy who loves to fish and has been blessed for his efforts. I learned a long time ago that in fishing, and in much of life, you get out of it what you put into it. I work hard when fishing, I study a lot, and always try to learn something on every outing. I hope you can use the information I post on this blog to learn something as well. Thanks for following along!

They're on the beds ... or at least close to it!

Got in about 5 hours of fishing last night and caught 20 largemouth and a handful of runtie, toothy, slimey, hammerhandle pike that chewed my baits up! The bass were all males exept for 2 that were 16" plump females. Lost a female of about 5 lbs that shook her head as I reached to grab and spit the hook back in my face ... literally. I think I heard her laughing as she swam away.

Fought 25 mph winds in the late afternoon the pushed some small shiner onto the shoreline. The male bass followed. Just about everything I caught was in less than 2' of water. The wind diesd down about 6:30 and the mayfly hatch kicked in ... killing the bite. Got a few fish after that but it really slowed down. Caught 19 of the bass on a chatterbait with a 4" gulp minnow trailer. The other came on a 4" Banjo. This guy was hungry!!!!!!!

Hope to get out as sunrise tomorrow to beat the bluegill fisherman to my shoreline. Those guys can really irritate em when they motor in the shallows and then drop anchors on the bass bed. Well, I guess I can't say much until I save enough to buy that lake. Then they better watch out! :)
